Climate Change is Real

Hey pals,

Yesterday Donald Trump signed yet another executive order, this time to overturn Barack Obama’s Clean Power Plan which “would have closed hundreds of coal-fired power plants” (New York Times). This executive order is only going to prevent us from preparing for the inevitable fight against climate change. “The World Meteorological Organization, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration, and NASA all found that 2016 was the warmest year on record and third consecutive year to rank hotter than all previous years” (CNN). This isn’t a problem we can avoid or leave for tomorrow. We need our president to be tough on big companies that emit the most CO2. We need the United States to lead the world on using clean, renewable energy. Oxfam America, a nonprofit that alleviates global poverty, made it super simple for us to contact our representatives. It takes less than five minutes!

Communicating with Representatives

Hey beautiful people!

I have decided to use this blog in order to push my feminist agenda so from here on out I’d like to share anything cool/informative/nasty I feel the world needs to know.

So, recently I found out about this new technology called “Resistbot” and it is the best thing I’ve heard of since 45 became president. It is really the best way to do something about our current political climate. The way it works is you text “Resist” to 50409 and they ask for your name, zip code (to identify your representatives), and you simply write a message to your representatives. The Resistbot formats it into a professional memo and faxes it directly to your representatives.  IS THIS NOT PERFECT? I think a lot of us right now are feeling hopeless, scared, and need something like this that directs our energy and good intentions to an action. I found it really helpful and I thought some of you might have things you want to ask your representatives. Share your concerns with them. Ask them about their position on the current legislation proposed. Let us not forget that they work for us. They literally REPRESENT us and it would be much easier to hold them accountable for their actions if we actually voiced our concerns to them.

Listen to the Eagles, say hello to a stranger, and contact your representatives
